Greendale GP: Opening August 27th!

I have been working on a new play these past few weeks: "Greendale GP", a dark comedy about a private practice of not-so-moral doctors in the Midwest, and we are getting ready for our opening at the end of this month. It's been a lot of fun to rehearse - and I can't wait to get it on it's feet!

Art=Love2: emergency dance off

I received a phone call this morning from my good friend Lindsay Goranson from the set of the film she is currently shooting "Art=Love2". They were shooting a dance studio scene and a few of the extra dancers were unable to show up to set. I jetted to the Midtown location after slipping into my old leotard and tights, happy to revive some of my old dance studio memories. Everyone was incredibly nice, and it was great fun to be with her on set. Who knew those old jazz shoes still fit?!

Beneath the Rock, day 11

Today I was on set for the feature film "Beneath the Rock" written/directed by Eliana Ujueta where I get to play a sexy blackjack dealer who never loses. We shot in a warehouse in Brooklyn for this particular scene that takes place in the busy casino. Now, I am not, personally, a gambler. I've done my time at the nickel slots, I love Vegas and Atlantic City, but have never played a hand of blackjack in my life. Let alone craps or roulette. And today, I was given charge of the roulette wheel. And let me tell ya, spinning roulette is not exactly something you can practice at home, and it is much more difficult that it looks. Thankfully, there was a real expert on hand to show me the ropes and we all had a lot of fun. Don't forget to tip your dealer.

Greendale GP Commercial

Today we shot a commercial for the new play written/directed by Brad Saville, "Greendale GP". It was a helluva lot of fun, and I wonder why more theatre companies don't do commercials for their shows. We all made it to the location late in the evening where coats, stethescopes, and kitty cats were all sorted out. "L is for Loretta"

A few weeks ago, I did a shoot for the short film "L is for Loretta". It was pretty darn special because it was the first film shoot I did with my Mom, Kate Bogdewiecz, who is a fantastic actress.

The film also featured the acting talent of my dearest friend, Lindsay Goranson. Director Eben Baume and the entire crew were wonderful.

Who could ask for anything more?

Hello everyone! I just finished shooting a film called "The Meeting" this past weekend up in beautiful Long Island. I played a 26-yr old daughter upset that her lesbian mother wouldn't fess up to her relationship with a beautiful, young rock star. I had so much fun on the shoot; the entire cast and crew was incredible. Photos to come soon!

"Honey & Candy"

Only a few weeks ago, I was fortunate enough to be asked to do a reading for a short play written by "Land of the Babydolls" director Lauren Cavanaugh called "Honey & Candy". The show takes place at an New York open-call audition for "West Side Story". The two characters (named Honey and Candy) spend time in the holding room discussing their personal lives, other auditions and jobs, and their downfalls (eating, and directors) - all to a hysterical end in a wicked catfight to get seen for a role. We had a very talented cast (Amanda Marasch and David Montgomery) and I really had a great time working with everyone again!

What The Rocky Horror Picture Show did for B-sci fi movies, and Clue did for the classic Parker Brothers board game, Zenbaby Theatre’s Land of the Babydolls does for the infamous book (and movie) Valley of the Dolls. This is by far the most entertaining new musical so far this year, and a must see for anyone who enjoys comedy, pathos, musicals, or camp in any form.

What makes Land of the Babydolls work is the fact that it doesn’t take itself too seriously, but instead uses the camp genre to not only entertain, but tell a great, and surprisingly timely tale. This silly 60’s comedy is a twisted tale of a girl, Lana, who leaves the comfort of her Vermont home to find herself in the big city of New York. She, along with new gal pals Janette and Stevie enter the “land of the babydolls” – the dark underworld of the entertainment industry rife with drugs, alcohol, and serious personality disorders. At heart it is a story of the downfall of the “me” generation, which, in the wake of the current economic crisis makes the repercussions suffered as a result of the characters frivolous life decisions feel all too poignant.

All of the actors are fantastic. It is impossible to single any out – they are all deserving of a good paragraph. The costumes were marvelous, especially the numerous cheap wigs which added the perfect touch to the evening.

Land of the Babydolls is that rare breed of new show that, created by relative unknowns has the potential to become a long running cult hit – the perfect show for a venue such as New World Stages. Zenbaby Theatre is a company to watch, and Land of the Babydolls is hands down a land to visit.

Well, I have been out of commission (at least with regards to this blog) these past months. In the break, I have done 2 new productions "Lilitu's Girls Caberet Show" written by Maja Milanovic and directed by Nelson Eusebio (www.myspace.com/lilitusgirlscabaret) which was quite a lot of fun as I was able to break out the singing voice once again (!) and I am currently working on "Land of the Babydolls" directed by Lauren Cavanaugh. This production was one I originally had performed in Denver, CO which was written/directed by Kristine Hipps under the title "Land of the Dolls". I played the role of Janette West (the leggy blonde) in the Denver production and am now getting to perform the role of Stella Dawson (the washed-up broadway diva) in this one here in New York. I am looking forward to our opening this week.
